New year, new journal entry...finally...

Mon Feb 2, 2009, 12:43 AM
Not too much new to say. I just thought it would be good to cycle through my old journal entry before it actually has been a year since I wrote. (I’m horrible at these journal/diary things, far too lazy…;)

Anyway, hm, not too much as been going on here at good ol’ UCD. Obviously I’ve gotten a job as a cartoonist. And this quarter I’ve had the joy of taking way too many classes about Greek Art (two of my four classes, and one of the others is Latin!). My Hellenistic knowledge has increased exponentially. It’s fun but at the same time…I’ve begun to dream about building Doric columns, down to the exact specifications of how many flutes the column is supposed to have (20, fyi). No joke. Scary stuff…

As for anything mildly interesting…In the last few weeks, Shadow and one of our roommates have been to several movies. We’ve seen Slumdog Millionaire (a very good movie, it’s both thought-provoking and has a good plot), Inkheart (less thought provoking, but still very fun. I’m such a teenage girl…;), and Spellbound (an old Hitchcock that we saw free through the Art History Club. Very suspenseful, very Hitchcock-y. Excellent Dali dream sequence). I’m still working on drawings and artsy stuff, but still haven’t found the time to actually finish anything besides comic strips.

So…yeah. Fun times.

At least my journal entry isn’t from June 6, 2008 anymore. ^^’

Almost Summer

Fri Jun 6, 2008, 2:40 PM
I just figured it was about time that I wrote a new journal entry...
Not too much to say except that finals are literally just around the corner and I for one can't wait for them to be over! Creepy to think that I'm supposedly half-done with college though...Oh well, I'll think about that senior year when I'm scrambling to fulfill my major requirements! ^^

Hmm, now I must fill up space:

tuba mirum spargens sonum
per sepulcra regionum
coget omnes ante thronum
mors stupebit et natura
cum resurget creatura
iudicanti responsura.

Anyone who can tell me where that's from gets extra credit. *sigh* Latin finals are really something sometimes... ;P

  • Mood: Eager
  • Listening to: duh, Latin chanting ^^
  • Reading: Art History notes
  • Eating: ice cream and junk food! Woot!

Animaniacs

Sat Jan 6, 2007, 9:14 PM
So I was on YouTube today and I suddenly remembered about the Animaniacs from way back in my childhood. Okay, so it wasn't that far back, which is why I was probably able to remember it. In any case, lo and behold, YouTube actually had some videos on!

The one that I actually remembered first was Wakko's state song...:

Then I was just looking around for more impossible-to-get-out-of-my-head goodness and stumbled upon these two:

I never remembered that Animaniacs was so educational...hmm...why don't they make shows like that anymore?

  • Listening to: The State Song
  • Reading: Sir Gawain and the Green Knight
  • Watching: Animaniacs vidoes
  • Eating: microwavable rice bowl

Christmas Break!

Wed Nov 29, 2006, 8:49 PM
Well, I'm nearly putting the finishing touches on my NaNoWriMo story, so that can only mean 1 thing...Christmas is coming!

Heh...we've already decorated up our common room in our suite, well a little anyway. Robin and I bought a few strings of lights and a fake Christmas tree (a shame we couldn't manage to get a real one...but that would have taken watering...).

We also made a fireplace to make the room seem cozier! Well, kinda...it's a little hard to explain, but basically, when they gave us our suite, they also provided us with an extra footboard and headboard incase we wanted to make two beds into a bunk bed. The head board and foot board have been sitting in our common room for all this time though because no one wanted bunk beds, so we finally put them to use. We squished them together, leaned them against a wall, covered them in cardboard (scavenged from boxes our parents mailed things in to us) and covered the cardboard with gray paper "stones", leaving a small hole at the bottom for the hearth. It actually looks pretty good, especially once Robin and I went through and shaded all of the stones with charcoal pencils. We even reused our orange Halloween lights and taped them to the inside of the hearth so that it makes a nice fiery glow! Heh...we get real bored and artsy when the school fails to provide us with art classes...

Anyway, I can't wait for winter break! Finals are going to be right before, but at least they'll be out of the way when we get home! (That's what we keep telling ourselves here at Davis anyhow...)

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again! They'll be getting big hugs! ^^

P.S. By the way Nat, if you happen to read this, we're going down to the San Jose area for a few days during break. If you're not able to make it up to SR, maybe we could still meet up somewhere...
